John Skowron, PT
John A. Skowron, PT is the newest addition to the Bone and Joint Surgery Clinic. He brings 29 years of Physical Therapy expertise to the group.
Born and raised on Long Island, John received his Bachelor of Science degree from New York University in 1977.
Following graduation, he worked at Bird S. Coler Hospital in New York, in the rehabilitation department treating stroke and spinal cord injured patients. From there he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he worked in home health, both in staff and supervisory positions.
From 1985 to present John has resided in Raleigh, working almost exclusively with orthopedic patients. For the past 18 years he has worked as an Orthopedic Physical Therapist for Duke Health Raleigh Hospital’s outpatient rehabilitation department. As part of his continuing education, John has taken dozens of orthopedic specialty courses. He has presented at hospital orthopedic grand rounds on multiple occasions. By his estimate, he’s treated over 10,000 orthopedic patients while in Raleigh. John has also worked as an insurance and legal consultant regarding Physical Therapy issues. He also has an inventive side, currently applying for patents for a new home cervical traction unit and a back extension exercise machine.
John has a daughter, Lindsey, who is currently attending UNC Charlotte. His varied personal interests include exercise, gourmet cooking, long range target shooting and hunting.
John specializes in knee, shoulder and spinal rehabilitation. He also has extensive experience in all other major orthopedic areas covered by The Bone and Joint Surgical Clinic.
