David T. Jones, M.D., P.A.
Dr. Jones is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with special interest and training in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery, Trauma and Joint Replacement. He also practices General Orthopaedics involving upper and lower extremity injuries and disorders.
Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, he completed undergraduate studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. He then attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he received his doctorate in medicine. Following medical school, he completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Louisiana State University Medical Center and Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
Dr. Jones opened private practice in New Orleans and continued his studies in arthroscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, partial knee replacement, trauma and sports medicine. In 2002 he moved briefly to Boston where he completed an AO Fellowship in trauma and has joined the AO Faculty as a teacher for trauma.
Dr. Jones is currently one of the team physicians/advisors for the U.S. Olympic Sailing Team and is chairman of the Sports medicine Committee for US Sailing. He was the team physician for New Orleans only professional soccer team and helped care for professional hockey and baseball as well as numerous sports teams from middle school to college. He served on many committees and has served as Chairman of Orthopaedics and Chairman of Surgery at two hospitals. Currently he is Vice-chairman of Orthopaedics at Rex Hospital.
Dr. Jones is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the AO Alumni Association and several local, regional and national orthopaedic and sports medicine organizations.
He and his family moved to Raleigh in the latter half of 2006 after hurricane Katrina caused many changes in their lives. They are excited to live in Raleigh and are eager to become more involved in the community.
